My uncle Dave! It's taken me nearly a week to think what I can say. And like you, I'm a man of silence. No words can describe the man you were in this world. 'Gentleman' to all you met in life comes somewhere close. But it falls short by miles. To my Uncle Dave... That Saturday at 3 o'clock In Londonderry's old Memorial Hall. We were singing songs of days of old "Londonderry on the Foyle" Or "Dave's song", as I know it. Then came the call, "Uncle Dave is gone" And in a heartbeat, All was forlorne. The McCorkell Clan chief Our rock of steel You were always there Our leader, our chief. To higher plains, above and beyond You've gained your wings, At last no more pain and sorrow Confusion at last is gone forever. In our hearts, We'll carry you always Your smile, your wit, your kindness They all will follow. To be like you, we'll try to be Today, tomorrow and in the years that follow. Our hearts are broken, But this we know, Your heart beats always, still and forever... Holding the McCorkell Clan together. With all my love, respect and honour. Your proud to be nephew, James From my branch of the Clan in Ireland, Ulster

I had the absolute pleasure of working for Dave for many years. A true gentleman, wonderful boss. I was so glad to be able to visit him with other colleagues recently. That Irish sparkle and charm was there and we had some good times remembering the olden days. RIP boss, you will be sorely missed xx Claire Ashton

I had the pleasure of working with Dave on a number of occasions throughout our time in the Police service. Dave was the ultimate professional. Calm, measured and always determined to secure the very best outcomes whatever the challenge. He set high standards, enjoyed the utmost respect from his colleagues and was always a complete joy to work with. A great Copper and a lovely man. RIP Dave Paul Sullivan
