Obituary For Hazel Welch
It is with deep sadness that we announce Hazel Welch passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on the morning 28th of September aged 73 years.
Born 14th August 1951 in Nuneaton Warwickshire, a daughter of Arthur and Henrietta Mitchel, one of seven siblings. Beloved wife of Brian Welch, recently celebrating their 55th Wedding anniversary. Mother to Caroline and Justin. She was also a proud grandmother to Jade, Hollie, Kia, Jake and great grandmother to Nico.
She had a great reputation as a seamstress in her early working life and later as a nursing assistant at the George Eliot hospital in Nuneaton, for many years before retiring to a well earned rest.
Her laugh, her beautiful smile and warming presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Anyone who knew her would remember her lighting up the room when she came in whilst being a caring and thoughtful person, always putting family and others before herself.
Her biggest passion and pleasure in life was to cook whether it be for husband Brian, huge family meals or legendary barbeques bringing a great deal of pleasure to her and many memories for family and friends. She loved her garden and loved to spend time in the warmer months with others enjoying them and the odd G&T! There will be many people with memories of the day after enjoying a social night with Hazel and her generous pouring hand!
Her favourite time of the year was Christmas and as her family knew her Christmas cards were always bought in January saying “there’s a saving there!” and presents would be thoughtfully picked and wrapped ready by September at the latest. Every card and present bringing her unimaginable joy to give and send.
In honouring Hazel's wishes there will be a private, unattended cremation service. We invite friends and loved ones to cherish Hazel Welch's memory by joining the family to celebrate her life, in her home town at the Chase Hotel, Higham Lane, Nuneaton from midday on Saturday 26th October. Please honour her wishes by wearing colourful clothes.
Should you wish, rather than brining flowers, you can donate directly to the Severn hospice who helped us care for Hazel.
Please contact her son Justin for any further information at jmawelch@yahoo.co.uk
