It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Philip Ronald Prouse on 16th of April at the age of 60.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, and all of his family and friends, he has left a huge hole in our hearts we love him so much!
Phil was in the Navy from the age of 17 for 6 years, he made so many friends of which he was still in contact with, his service included having involvement in the Falkland’s war and travelling to many other countries . After the Navy he spent a few years being a window fitter, then he started working for Bobby’s Foods, which lasted over 30 years until he passed away.
Phil loved to watch rugby.
His greatest passion is the house renovation which he took so much pride in and looks amazing, he is such a clever man, we are so very proud of him!
In honouring Phil’s wishes, the family has opted for a private, unattended service to celebrate his life. We invite friends and loved ones to cherish Phil’s memory in their own special way.

I first met Phil in 1984 when I joined HMS Phoebe. He made me feel welcome and was always somebody to enjoy a night out with. He rescued me after a night out and I woke up in my bed wrapped in toilet roll. He got me into one of the best pits in the mess and remained sleeping on top of him for the next 2 and a half years, albeit, Jan 'mad dog' Peacey was in between us. Fond memories of a kind and funny person

I met Phil in 1983 when I joined HMS Phoebe in Plymouth. We lived on the same messdeck and hit it off immediately. We had a similar sense of humour and loved Blackadder and Spitting Image. About this time Phil decided to wear a denim jacket; collar up of course! I thought he was aping that musical non-entity Shakin' Stevens, and so from then on always called him Shakin', Shakes or Shakin' Geezer. Phil was fantastic company; you were always guaranteed a laugh. I have some brilliant memories of many drink ups in Plymouth where our favourite haunts were the Prince Regent pub (The PR), and Boobs nightclub. We also used to visit his Mum in Newton Abbot, which was always a good laugh. We both left the Navy within a year of each other, but always kept in touch. Even though we lived 150 miles apart, we always made time to visit each other once or twice a year whereupon the gargantuan drink ups continued! We had some great holidays together in Crete, Bourton-on-the-Water, Las Vegas, Fuerteventura and even 1 day in Bulgaria. Anybody who met Phil would find it difficult not to like him. He was affable, warm, and amiable. He always had a smile, was welcoming and generous and I never heard him say a bad word about anyone. We're all really going to miss my old Shakin' Geezer: taken too quick and too soon. Farewell my old Shakin' shipmate. We will meet again... Sid, Janet, Jamie and Katie

I met Phil when he took Nick and I took my son Harry to kickboxing. The parents would watch and chat while the offspring would kick lumps off each other. We made it to two lads holidays. One to Sunny Beach Bulgaria in 2022 and one to Salou Spain in 2023. Each holiday was brilliant. No one held back at the all inclusive bar. We met and made lots of friends on each trip. Phil was always in charge of finding us the holiday, he had a sort of knack for finding a great holiday that everyone would enjoy. We were due to go to Florida this year (2024) to celebrate Phil's 60th birthday, but due to Phil's sudden illness we never made it. I am totally shocked by how sudden everything happened. It was only a couple of months ago I witnessed Phil laying a kitchen floor in the Prouse family home as good as a professional wound do. Phil will never be forgotten by me. He has taught me a valuable lesson in life, don't take things for granted and never worry about the little things. What a loss of a great guy.

I've known Phil most of my life we were at school together sitting by each other through high school . We used to go to the old Tramps night club when he was on leave from the Navy (good times). He then worked for my brother Rob as a window fitter, then became my other brothers best friend. The last time I saw him was late January outside homebargins. He was one of the funniest guys I've ever met and always had a smile on his face. Phil I will miss you 😢 xx

My brother, Philip, was born at Easter and when he was little we always called him 'Bunny '. I have always been proud of the loving and gentle man that he grew up to be. Helen, Bec and Nick were his world. Phil has touched many lives for the better. Jackie and I will not forget him and all that he stood for. Mike
